Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does every Veteran automatically get 12 free sessions?
A: No. The number of sessions and the time period are decided by the VA based on your referral and medical needs. Many authorizations include up to 12 visits, but that is not guaranteed for everyone.
Q: Can I book a session before my authorization is approved?
A: If you book before we receive your authorization, the visit may be considered
self-pay. We recommend waiting until your referral is approved, or calling us first to verify your status.
Q: Can I continue treatment after my 12 sessions are used?
A: Yes. Your VA provider may submit another referral if medically necessary, or you can continue as a self-pay client at our regular or membership rates.
You may qualify if:
- You are enrolled in VA health care
- You have a service-connected or clinically significant condition that may benefit from massage therapy (such as chronic pain, post-op recovery, limited mobility, or muscle tension)
- Your VA provider writes a referral for massage or manual therapy through Community Care
- The VA issues an authorization naming Body Evolution Spa (or our NPI) as the provider
If you’re not sure whether you qualify, we’re happy to help you understand the process.
How VA-Paid Massage Sessions Work
1
Ask your VA primary care provider, surgeon, or specialist if massage therapy or manual lymphatic drainage would help with your condition. If they agree, they can submit a
Community Care referral to Body Evolution Spa.
2
Once the VA processes the referral, they’ll decide:
- How many visits are approved (often up to 12 per authorization)
- The time period you have to use them
- The specific diagnosis and type of service
You’ll receive a letter or phone call from Community Care with your approval details.
3
As soon as you’re approved, you can schedule your massage sessions with us. We:
- Verify your authorization
- Provide the prescribed sessions
- Submit billing directly to the VA
For all authorized visits,
you pay nothing at the time of service.
Your exact treatment plan will depend on your VA referral and medical diagnosis. Standard services we provide for Veterans include:
- Therapeutic Massage for chronic pain, muscle tension, and stiffness
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) to support post-surgical swelling and recovery (if ordered by your provider)
- Relaxation Massage to help with stress, anxiety, and sleep issues
- Targeted 30–60 minute sessions for neck, shoulders, low back, or legs
All sessions are delivered in a calm, respectful environment designed to support healing of both body and mind.
